What's the buzz about cosmetic acupuncture?
Facial rejuvenation uses multiple methods of East Asian medicine techniques to rejuvenate skin and give a healthy glow. The majority of acupuncture channels start or end in our face so by stimulating and balancing the qi in the face, the whole body is treated.
This treatment starts with a short holistic acupuncture treatment to balance qi. Next an acupressure massage will move stagnation in the face making for a comfortable time during the facial needing portion of the qi glow facial. Acupuncture needling tones muscles, lifts saggy skin, and reduce wrinkles over time. Plus it stimulates and increase in collagen and elastin. As we age, our collagen and elastin production decreases.
Additionally, the treatment includes a gua sha facial, facial cupping, and the facial teishin beauty wand to increase circulation bringing growth factors to the face, moves lymphatic fluid which decreases puffiness and aids in moving toxins out of the face and neck, improves muscle tone and tightness, and reduces blood stagnation which can lead to increased pain in the head and face. Additionally, the treatment is soothing and relaxing. So much of our tension is held in our face. And don’t forget, the best part – the qi glow!
FAQs about cosmetic acupuncture
In short yes! But it depends on the amount of treatment you get and the condition of your skin. One treatment is similar to a facial ‘glow up’. However for reducing fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, sagging skin, a series of treatments is the most beneficial. The more damaged or aged the skin, the more treatments needed. One reason facial acupuncture works is the needle causes microdamage which results in increases collagen and elastin and increases circulation which brings growth factors to the face. Collagen repair takes 6 weeks to fully heal so results grow over time not just during the treatment.
No. First there are no injections. The results are more subtle and natural than treatments like botox or fillers. While some folks like the look of botox and fillers, others just want to look natural. This gives a natural youthful appearance by healing your skin from the inside out. Some folks find that their face looks more defined because fluids in the face are reduced, muscles are toned/relaxed, and over time, skin is tightened.

Both! While needles are a powerful way of increasing collagen and elastin, you can get a non-needling facial. This will involve a longer massage, gua sha session, neck muscle tension release techniques, facial cupping and facial teishin, And non-needling qi-balancing acupuncture treatment using non needling techniques. A great option for those who are needle-phobic. If you can only handle a few needles, we can adjust to your tolerance. This isn’t a ‘no pain, no gain’ treatment. Its should be enjoyable and relaxing.
